About Me: Iām a KC native who recently returned to the area after 20 years in Phoenix, Arizona. I used to (naively) think of board games as nothing more than a pastime for kids, based on pure luck and guaranteed to cause arguments among family and friends, but that all changed when a friend introduced me to The Settlers of Catan. That game showed me how complex and entertaining board games could be, and started a hobby that has captivated me for the past five years. Since purchasing my first copy of Catan, and then some of its expansions, my game collection has grown to over 30 captivating and immersive titles, and my family room is now a board game room where my wife and I play as often as possible. I'm excited to use this blog to review some of the games I've played throughout the years, as well as some new releases, and hope to spark the same interest in board games that Catan sparked in me!
Catan has become well-known over the past several years, but as entertaining as it can be, it's just the tip of the iceberg in terms of games that rely more on skill than chance. What's the best stepping stone for those who are getting antsy playing Catan but don't know what to try next? For me, the answer is clear. But to find out, you'll have to stay tuned for my first review!
